Hey, that is not nice. What about those of us who would like to do Ironman but are not? :-) I had to stop the movie... What did the guy say? At least I can brag for the rest of my life already... :-)
Sarah: he said "Sarah Jarvis, you need to be an Ironman again!" :) You're right though, you already have your bragging rights! Not that I've ever heard you use them. I'll definately chat them out of you in St George.
I'm married and am the mom to 4 kids. We love our mountains here in SLC, Utah. We are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
I've been a triathlete since 1999 and have been an ultrarunner since 2012. Thanks for visiting my blog, please leave me a comment! I'm on Instagram and Twitter @UltraTriMama
With a shoe for every kind of runner, walker, hiker, nurse, doctor, anyone on their feet, Altra Running is revolutionizing running and the running world. These foot and joint friendly shoes feature a foot shaped unique round toe box design, gender specific last/shape, and no difference between the sole thickness between the heel and the toe of the shoe (ZERO DROP) getting you off your heels (heel striking is bad if you hadn't heard yet). This concept of 'Zero Drop' coined by Altra will enable people to more easily land midfoot/flat footed under their body with bent knees allowing the muscles to absorb impact, not joints, and improve their form and run more naturally and healthy like we were designed to run. I run solely in Altra and know they've made a difference for my body and form and speed. These shoes are a zero drop foot shaped shoe WITH cushion, you don't have to go minimal to have a lower heel and proper form anymore. Perfect marriage of barefoot benefits and the cushioning we all enjoy. Check them out online and at your local running store, I promise they're worth you're time and money. They've been a part of our family for 9 years now since my husband Jeremy and his cousin founded the brand in 2009.
My favorite gel
I've been using Vfuel now for many years and just love it. Goes down the easiest of any brand I've tried, the flavors are good, pink lemonade is my new fav, along with caramel apple, peach cobbler and cool citrus (think lemon meringue pie)! Each packet has a small amount of caffine (10mg) to keep things stable and aid in digestion. I've used them for 90% of my calories through my 100 milers and plenty of shorter races with no issues whatsoever. They also just came out with a clear, easy mixing, great tasting endurance drink mix complete with electrolytes. Check your local running store or use discount code LHowlett for 20% off at Vfuel.com
Electrolytes
My every race, pre race electrolyte routine. I add it to everything I drink from Wednesday-Race day morning. I really think it helps me absorb all the water I take in better and tops off my electrolyte supply. A very important product to me! I've also started using it during races and am very happy with it's performance. Nice to not have to think about pills.
Recovery fuel
I use First Endurance's Ultragen as a recovery drink. Really great when I'm away from home after a run but want to take advantage of that all important 20 minute window. Full protein, carbohydrate, and vitamins in one. Orange Creme is my favorite flavor, Tropical Flavor is not. Reminds me of the pink medicine we all took as kids, ammoxicilan. I also use their Optygen HP in the months leading up to a big race. First Endurance Pre-Race is another supplement I'll use in racing when I need a stimulant wake-me-up
Vitamins and supplements
Great place to buy many brands of high quality vitamins and supplements with cheap and easy shipping and often extra discounts
Because I'm a wife, busy mom of 4, and addicted athlete, I rarely clean my house....I mean I don't always keep up with blogging. I'm going to backdate these when I post them so they're in correct chronological order. Here's a little list though if you're interested with keeping up. I'll delete the competed posts off this list after a week or so to keep things tidy. Thanks for reading! Saratoga Springs Tri - A win and 2nd with the men!
